XRP Price Prediction: What Happens This Week With the Senate Vote on Tuesday and the Fed on Wednesday
The Senate votes Tuesday afternoon on a bill that could permanently settle XRP’s legal status, and the Fed follows the next morning with a rate decision that history says hits speculative coins harder than most investors expect.

The Senate votes at 2:15 p.m. ET on September 15 on theCLARITY Act, and the Federal Reserve announces its rate decision at 2:00 p.m. the next day.XRP(CRYPTO:XRP) trades at $1.39, up 3.9% on the day and down 1.4% on the week.
The Senate vote could make XRP’s legal status permanent, and the Fed decides what holding it costs. So where could the XRP price end up by Friday?
A Senate Vote at 2:15 p.m. ET Could Lock In XRP’s Legal Status
Cloture ends debate and lets a bill reach the floor. It takes 60 senators, and clearing it does not pass the bill. It only lets the Senate start arguing about the text. However, Republicans hold 53 seats, so at least seven Democrats have to cross the aisle before that debate can start
Senators Cynthia Lummis, John Boozman and Tim Scott released the final text on September 13 and 14, carrying 126 changes Democrats had asked for. The White House agreed to ethics language that bars public officials from issuing or sponsoring digital assets, enforceable by state attorneys general and the Justice Department. Polymarket now prices 2026 passage at 30%, up from 22% before the text came out, and Kalshi reads 37%.
Democrats have named three fights that stayed open through the rewrite. They want tighter ethics rules covering the $1.4 billion President Trump made from crypto in 2025, they dispute developer liability for DeFi under Section 604, and they object to how the bill treats stablecoin yield.
XRP has more riding on this vote than most coins. A court ruled in July 2023 that XRP sold on exchanges is not a security. However, one judge made that call, and a future SEC could reopen the fight. A pass writes that ruling into law, where no regulator can undo it. Lummis has warned the next chance may not come until 2030, because this session ends and the bill restarts from page one.
The Fed Decides on September 16 and XRP Already Priced In a Hike
The Fed has held its rate at 3.75% since December 11, 2025. Traders price a 25 basis point rise at 85% to 87%, which would be the first hike since July 2023 and the first of the ETF era. August CPI came in at 3.4% year over year, with core at 2.4% on September 13, and the 10-year Treasury yield hit 4.95% on September 10, its highest in a year.
Higher yields pull money into Treasuries and out of coins that pay nothing, and XRP has fallen harder than Bitcoin on recent inflation prints. However, almost nobody will be surprised by the hike, because traders bought it weeks ago, and a 3% to 5% dip on the announcement would unwind fast.
Traders do not know what the quarterly Summary of Economic Projections will say. Those projections, known as the dot plot, show where each policymaker expects rates to go next, and hawkish dots would tell XRP holders to expect several more hikes after this one. A hold with hawkish language would hurt more than a hike, because it removes the cushion traders paid for and leaves the threat standing.
XRP Trades at $1.39 With Shorts Stacked and Volatility Squeezed
XRP has gained 34.38% over the past month and lost 55.56% over the past year. XRP has support below at $1.33, $1.30, and $1.21. Resistance starts at $1.41, which is 1.4% above, then $1.47 and $1.52, with a band at $1.66 to $1.70.
Funding reads negative with shorts stacked, so short holders pay long holders to keep those positions open. That arrangement works until the price rises, and then those shorts have to buy XRP back, which pushes the price further than the news alone would.
Bollinger Bands, the volatility envelope that widens when a coin moves and narrows when it stalls, have squeezed tight. A squeeze that tight breaks one way or the other, and two scheduled events inside 24 hours decide which.
Four Outcomes Point XRP at Four Different Levels
Each combination of the two decisions points at a level already marked on the XRP chart.
| Senate | Fed | Where XRP heads |
|---|---|---|
| Pass | Hold or dovish | Through $1.41, opens $1.47, then $1.52 |
| Pass | Hike | Holds $1.39 to $1.41 |
| Fail | Hold or dovish | Drifts back to $1.35 to $1.41 |
| Fail | Hike | $1.33, then $1.30, close below opens $1.21 |
XRP at $1.39 already trades inside the pass-and-hike row, which is the combination current odds favor. Crypto analyst Ali Martinez marks $1.06 as the pivot, with $1.64 above and $0.62 below.Standard Charteredcarries a $2.80 target for 2026 and a downside ladder at $0.88, $0.80, and $0.62.
The Fed Decides Where XRP Closes This Week
The Fed moves XRP more this week, because rates set what every speculative coin costs to hold. The Senate could make XRP’s current legal status permanent, and a failed vote leaves it resting on a single court ruling until 2030. XRP at $1.39 already trades inside the $1.39 to $1.41 zone that a cloture pass and a hike would produce, which is what prediction markets and rate futures both favor.
Two results would push XRP out of that zone. Cloture clearing alongside a Fed that sounds dovish puts $1.47 within reach, which is 5.8% above. A hike delivered with hawkish dots tests $1.33 and then $1.30, and a close below $1.30 opens at $1.21, another 13% down from here.
