Strategy Inc.(NASDAQ:MSTR) raised $2 billion through stock sales last week as <a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/bitcoin-price-hits-80000-why-bitcoin-is-going-up-what-is-next/” title=”Bitcoin Price Hits $80,000! Why Bitcoin Is Going Up? What Is Next?”>Bitcoin’s(CRYPTO: BTC) 24% surge flipped its 840,447 BTC position back into profit.
What the $2 Billion Raise Actually Covered
According to Monday’s 8-K filing, Strategy sold 18.26 million MSTR shares between Aug. 17 and Aug. 23, directing proceeds three ways.
It added $300 million to its USD Reserve, bringing the total to $5.1 billion. It used $136.4 million to repurchase 1.43 million STRC preferred shares. The remaining $1.59 billion went into a newly created liquidity pool called USD Cash.
Strategy made no Bitcoin purchases or sales during the week, leaving holdings unchanged at 840,447 BTC for a second straight week.
The company acquired those coins at an average price of $75,385 per Bitcoin, compared with Bitcoin’s current price near $78,000, leaving it with roughly $2.4 billion in unrealized profit after spending most of 2026 underwater.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin ETF inflows hit $1.92 billion last week, the largest weekly total since the October 2025 crash, adding institutional tailwind behind the price move that pushed Strategy’s position back into the green.
What the New USD Cash Pool Actually Is
Strategy explained that USD Cash is a new pool of dollar liquidity the company can deploy freely for any Bitcoin treasury purpose, from buying Bitcoin to repurchasing shares, repaying convertible notes, or topping up the USD Reserve.
Unlike the existing USD Reserve, which is restricted solely to covering preferred stock dividends and debt interest, the new pool gives management the flexibility to respond quickly to market dislocations in Bitcoin or the company’s own securities.
Combined with the USD Reserve, Strategy now holds $6.69 billion in total dollar liquidity, its largest cash buffer since launching its Bitcoin treasury strategy.
The company has repurchased $483.4 million of preferred stock under its $1 billion Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program, leaving $516.6 million available, while its separate $1 billion MSTR common stock repurchase program remains fully untouched.
