Kiyosaki Calls Treasury Buybacks Money Printing

Renewed concern about the dollar prompted Rich Dad Poor Dad author Robert Kiyosaki to endorse scarce assets after characterizing expanded U.S. Treasury debt buybacks as quantitative easing. In an Aug. 22 post on X, he linked the policy change with inflation risks and urged followers to favor <a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/jd-vance-dodge-xrp-bitcoin-debt-plan-as-u-s-debt-hits-40t/” title=”JD Vance Dodge XRP, Bitcoin Debt Plan as U.S. Debt Hits $40T”>bitcoin, gold, silver, and certain real estate. “Printing more fake $,” Kiyosaki remarked.

The Treasury’s decision increases the operation size of liquidity-support buybacks for nominal securities in the 10- to 20-year and 20- to 30-year maturity ranges. Its Aug. 19 statement on expanded long-term buybacks raised each operation from $2 billion to at least $4 billion, effective Sept. 9 through Nov. 4. Kiyosaki stated:

“US Treasury announces another round of QE (Quantitative Easing) aka printing fake $.”

Long-dated yields had spiked before the announcement, with the 30-year Treasury reaching 5.34% on Aug. 18, its highest in 19 years. The 30-year rate eased to 5.184% after Treasury disclosed the larger operations.

Although both programs involve government securities, Treasury buybacks and quantitative easing operate through different institutions and serve different stated purposes. Treasury funds repurchases from debt sale proceeds and cash already held in its general fund, so one security replaces another instead of new money entering circulation.

Quantitative easing, by contrast, describes large-scale asset purchases that a central bank deploys as a monetary policy tool. The Treasury action does not, by itself, constitute a Federal Reserve QE program.

Dollar Decline Fuels Kiyosaki’s Inflation Warning

Kiyosaki also presented the U.S. Dollar Index’s decline as evidence that inflation would accelerate and cash savers would lose purchasing power. In his words: “DXY (index of purchasing power of dollars) crashes, which means inflation booms… which means savers of fake $ are the biggest losers.” His wording reflects his assessment rather than a direct measurement of consumer inflation.

DXY measures the dollar against six foreign currencies, with the euro carrying the largest weight, rather than directly tracking what dollars buy inside the United States. The Treasury announcement contributed to renewed discussion of the debasement trade as the dollar weakened and scarce assets advanced. However, a lower DXY does not automatically produce a corresponding increase in consumer prices.

The financial author connected education with the ability to identify assets that may preserve or increase value during inflationary periods. The Rich Dad Poor Dad author advised:

“Facts are educated investors who invest in assets that go up in value, such as gold, silver, bitcoin, some real estate, get richer… while people who are financially uneducated, and invest in fake assets get poorer.”

Federal debt crossed $40 trillion before Kiyosaki issued his warning, adding context to his concern over borrowing. The Treasury’s Debt to the Penny dataset placed total public debt outstanding at approximately $40.03 trillion on Aug. 20, including $32.28 trillion held by the public and $7.75 trillion in intragovernmental holdings.

Days earlier, Kiyosaki highlighted predictions of $10,000 gold and $200 silver and identified silver as his preferred choice for August.

Bitcoin and Gold Remain Central to His Strategy

The latest message continues Kiyosaki’s long-running argument that government debt, currency weakness, and inflation threaten conventional savings. In July, he warned that a global downturn could wipe out many people while rewarding those prepared for severe market disruption. That broader crash warning tied financial instability to U.S. debt and weakening bonds, although his description of the U.S. economy as “bankrupt” was a personal characterization.

Bitcoin has remained a central element of Kiyosaki’s preferred response to those risks, alongside gold and silver, despite substantial volatility across all three assets. His bullish bitcoin outlook amid an earlier inflation warning linked rising national debt and potential money creation with weakening fiat currencies. Those conditions do not ensure that any particular asset will appreciate or preserve purchasing power.

The author ended his Aug. 22 message by returning to financial education, arguing that the greater cost is not the time or money spent learning about investing, but the potential gains people miss when they fail to recognize financial opportunities.
