Global crypto market maker Wintermute has transferred approximately $57.1 million worth of <a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/jd-vance-dodge-xrp-bitcoin-debt-plan-as-u-s-debt-hits-40t/” title=”JD Vance Dodge XRP, Bitcoin Debt Plan as U.S. Debt Hits $40T”>Bitcoin and Solana to Binance and Coinbase. Binance received 169.5 BTC and 129,500 SOL, while Coinbase received 407.5 BTC via an intermediary wallet. OnchainLens noted that assets moved to exchanges could potentially be used for selling. This week’s cumulative Binance deposits reached 3,834.3 BTC, valued at approximately $256.8 million. However, exchange deposits do not necessarily mean completed sales. Market attention is also turning to altcoins with different market structures from Bitcoin, including Uniswap, Hedera, Algorand, and VeChain.
Key Elements

Global cryptocurrency market maker Wintermute has transferred approximately $57.1 million (₩79 billion) worth of Bitcoin and Solana to centralized exchanges. Exchange deposits are typically interpreted as a potential sell signal, heightening market caution.
According to on-chain analytics platform Odaily on the 23rd (local time), Wintermute deposited approximately 169.5 Bitcoin to Binance that day, valued at roughly $13.1 million (₩18 billion) at current prices. On the same day, Wintermute also transferred approximately 129,500 Solana to Binance, worth about $12.4 million (₩17 billion).
Approximately 407.5 Bitcoin was deposited to Coinbase through a separate intermediary wallet. That tranche is valued at approximately $31.4 million (₩43 billion). The total value of cryptocurrency Wintermute moved to Binance and Coinbase on the day reached approximately $57.1 million.
On-chain data analytics firm OnchainLens stated that “assets moved to exchanges could potentially be used for selling.”
Binance Deposit Flows Extend to Weekly Scale
This transfer is not an isolated move. According to blockchain monitoring data, Wintermute deposited 590.9 Bitcoin (approximately $45.66 million, ₩63 billion) to Binance in a recent transaction. Including this, the total Bitcoin sent to Binance this week reached 3,834.3 BTC, valued at approximately $256.8 million (₩360 billion).
Such large-scale exchange deposits have raised questions about potential sell pressure across the broader cryptocurrency market. However, exchange deposits do not necessarily equate to completed sales. Whether the transferred Bitcoin was actually sold cannot be confirmed through on-chain data alone, and given Wintermute’s role as a market maker, the possibility that these movements were for liquidity provision cannot be ruled out.
Sell-Off Concerns Raised at a Sensitive Juncture
The attention surrounding this transfer stems from the digital asset market entering a sensitive phase. Wintermute previously noted in August that Bitcoin was under pressure from ETF outflows and miner selling. In a subsequent market update on August 10, the firm indicated that ETF inflows had strengthened, suggesting institutional demand can shift rapidly depending on market conditions.
Against this backdrop, traders are also paying attention to altcoins with market structures that differ from Bitcoin. Assets being discussed include Uniswap, Hedera, Gigachad, Algorand, and VeChain.
Uniswap is closely tied to decentralized exchange activity and liquidity across multiple blockchain networks. When market volatility increases, its performance can hinge on DeFi trading volumes. A sharp downturn could dampen trading activity and liquidity, but heightened volatility can also drive demand for position rebalancing, potentially boosting decentralized exchange usage.
Hedera and Algorand occupy distinct niches in the blockchain infrastructure market. Both projects have focused on network performance and enterprise use cases. Network activity—rather than Bitcoin’s price movements themselves—may be the determining factor in their resilience to market pressure, though risk appetite remains a critical variable.
Gigachad falls into a different category, being closely tied to the meme coin sector. Its price swings can be more pronounced when liquidity shifts rapidly. If Bitcoin faces sustained selling pressure, speculative assets are likely to react with particular sensitivity.
VeChain focuses on blockchain applications including supply chain and business processes. Its market performance may be linked to overall cryptocurrency sentiment, but adoption-related developments could influence longer-term interest.
Whether Wintermute’s exchange transfers will translate into actual selling remains unconfirmed. However, large-scale fund movements by a market maker are serving as a factor that heightens short-term caution among market participants.
