Financial advisor Ric Edelman states that the debate over investing inBitcoin(<a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/moldovas-crypto-asset-market-law-to-take-effect-in-march-2027/” title=”Moldova’s Crypto Asset Market Law to Take Effect in March 2027″>CRYPTO: BTC) mirrors the 1999 skepticism surrounding Amazon.com Inc.(NASDAQ:AMZN), predicting the digital asset will become a widely held portfolio asset.
The Amazon Trajectory
Speaking on BMTV, the Edelman Financial Engines founder noted that the financial industry’s dialogue around Bitcoin is a temporary phase. “Back in 1999, people were arguing over whether to invest in Amazon,” Edelman stated.
“Nobody has that argument. Everybody owns it, and Bitcoin will have the same trajectory in the future”.
While he faced industry pushback in 2013 and 2014, Edelman notes that traditional finance professionals now acknowledge cryptocurrency as a permanent asset class.
Lowering Portfolio Risk
Edelman argues Bitcoin fundamentally improves standard portfolio management. For decades, the traditional 60/40 split of stocks and bonds served as the foundation of wealth management, but elevated macroeconomic risks have forced advisors to adapt.
Edelman notes wealth managers now target a 2% Bitcoin allocation to improve risk-adjusted returns. Because the asset moves independently of traditional markets—or “zigs when the others zag”—it provides crucial rebalancing opportunities.
The addition of Bitcoin “actually lowers the risk,” Edelman explained, pointing to 16 years of historical performance data and established metrics like the Sharpe ratio.
Tokenization and the $500,000 Target
Looking ahead, Edelman projects Bitcoin will reach $500,000 by 2030. He bases this calculation on a simple global adoption metric rather than technical market analysis. Edelman says a 1% allocation of global assets to Bitcoin would imply a price of roughly $500,000 per coin.
He characterized this projection as conservative, suggesting the price could climb higher and hit the target before the end of the decade. Additionally, Edelman predicts Wall Street will rapidly tokenize real-world assets, calling real estate tokenization the upcoming “holy grail” of the industry.
How Has BTC Performed?
At the last check, BTC was 1.40% higher at $77,442.97 per coin in the last 24 hours. It was down by 38.5% from its Oct. 6, 2025, all-time high of $126,080 per coin.
While the cryptocurrency was 20.5% higher over the last month, it was 34.1% lower over the year.
