Flare is building an XRP▲$1.13-based DeFi stack around FXRP in the forms of lending, staking, trading, and yield.

Flare (FLR) Is Building a Bigger XRP DeFi Ecosystem

As of May, the network has around $200 million of XRP TVL and over 3.4 million FXRP DeFi transactions. In later integrations, Flare XRP DeFi would also incorporate institutional lending collateral and onchain derivatives.

Why XRPFi Has Become Flare’s Main Growth Narrative

As XRP does not have its own general-purpose smart-contract platform like other DeFi ecosystems, Flare’s XRPFi project is key to Flare’s plans to build a stack of decentralized products using XRP for lending, staking, providing liquidity, and other onchain activities.

It now spans multiple protocols, including Morpho modular lending markets for XRP collateralized assets on Flare Network, Firelight and Spectra extending staking and yield use cases, among others. Flare XRPFi is thus a narrative that uses XRP in multiple financial applications on Flare Network, rather than one DeFi product.

How FXRP Brings XRP Into DeFi

Flare FXRP is a 1:1 representation of XRP that is issued in a collateralized manner within a set of assets known as FAssets, which bring XRP into programmable DeFi for uses such as lending, trading, staking, or liquidity.

FAssets v1.3 also simplifies minting by allowing XRP transactions to be made directly through XRP Ledger and routed using destination tags, memos, or Flare Smart Accounts. This was intended to make it easier to integrate with wallets, custodians and exchanges.

Metric / Area Current Status Why It Matters
FXRP minted 155M+ since launch Shows growing XRP participation on Flare
FXRP in DeFi ~85% as of April 2026 Indicates that most minted FXRP was actively deployed
XRP TVL ~$200M as of May 2026 Measures XRP-linked capital active in the ecosystem
FXRP DeFi transactions 3.4M+ as of May 2026 Signals onchain usage beyond simple asset holding
Main FXRP use cases Lending, staking, liquidity, yield, derivatives Expands XRP utility across DeFi
Key ecosystem protocols Morpho, Firelight, Spectra, earnXRP Provides multiple venues for XRP-based strategies

    Flare’s XRPFi Expansion Is Accelerating

Flare’s DeFi ecosystem of XRP assets has also rapidly expanded in 2026, with FXRP being used for cross-chain bridging, lending, staking, yield vaults and derivatives, with over 150 million FXRP reported in circulation as of April 2026. New integrations continue to expand FXRP’s DeFi use cases.

    FXRP Supply Surpasses 150 Million

As many as 150 million FXRP had been minted by April, with Flare reporting that 85% was being used in DeFi as of that month. In August, CoinDesk reported that 155 million FXRP had been minted since launch.

This milestone is considered a representation of FXRP crypto adoption, while the FAssets page for Flare records that most of the over 155 million FXRP minted in the first 7 months was deployed in DeFi, and not simply sitting onchain.

XRP Yield Products Are Driving New Demand

One of the main components of Flare XRPFi expansion is yield products. The earnXRP vault, launched by Upshift, Clearstar, and Flare, takes FXRP deposited on the earnXRP vault and employs it in liquidity generation and collateralized borrowing, with returns being compounded into XRP.

Access has also been openedENT users would be able to deposit their XRP into curated Flare vaultsme

Flare Targets Billions of XRP for DeFi

Flare’s supply is intended to be much larger. In August, the reporter for CoinDesk wrote that CEO Hugo Philion hoped to bring 5 billion XRP on to Flare Network in six months’ time (compared to the 155 million FXRP that had been created).

The difference between this number, which is what Flare has announced as the goal for Flare Network, and the proof that billions of XRP have moved to DeFi has been meaningful, particularly as the number is far away from the stated goal.

FXRP Gains New Utility Across DeFi

FXRP has been expanded beyond merely moving XRP to the new EVM ecosystem to include use cases such as lending, liquidity provision, yield strategies, and derivatives. Flare’s XRPFi portal, which tracks DeFi products using FXRP, shows over 122 million XRP-equivalent FXRP-related tokens in DeFi.

FXRP Becomes Collateral for Options and Perpetuals on Derive

In August 2026, FXRP was added as collateral for XRP options and perpetuals on Derive. FXRP can be deposited and used as collateraling and derivatives to XRPFi. XRP options will be cash settled in USDC▲$0.9999 rather than physically settled in XRP

FXRP holders may also use the extension to sell options in exchange for premiums or hedge their XRP position with protective puts, and take on associated margins and market risks.

XRP Liquidity Expands Across Flare DeFi Protocols

FXRP liquidity is spread across multiple applications: SparkDEX and Enosys for providing liquidity, Kinetic for lending and borrowing, Firelight for staking, and Spectra for yield markets. In February 2026, Morpho launched modular XRP lending on Flare.

Liquidity has also expanded outside of Flare itself, with FXRP spot markets added to Hyperliquid — FXRP/USDC, FXRP/USDH — extending XRP-linked liquidity into another onchain trading ecosystem.

Institutional Access to FXRP Continues to Grow

Infrastructure for institutions and DeFi integration is also underway. In February, Hex Trust expanded its partnership with Flare to support institutional FXRP minting and redemption, along with native FLR staking/custody, governance and compliance services.

In August, FXRP was used as a collateral asset on Morpho through Sentora’s institutional-managed RLUSD▲$0.9999 Main vault. FXRP/RLUSD market allows users to borrow RLUSD against FXRP as collateral on Ethereum without liquidating their XRP position, providing additional opportunities for Flare FXRP to provide liquidity to the institutional market.

Could XRPFi Drive More Demand for FLR?

While XRPFi growth can increase Flare’s activity, there is no guarantee that Flare’s activity translates into Flare FLR utility. To strengthen this economic link, Flare proposed a set of amendments to Flare Network in April 2026. The proposal, named FIP.16, was approved on 24 April.

How FLR Supports the Flare Ecosystem

FLR is the native token of the network, used to pay transaction fees, for governance, staking to validators, and delegating to Flare Time Series Oracle. It burns transaction fees and stakes coins to secure the proof-of-stake network.

In addition, FIP.16 seeks to link the ecosystem revenue with FLR economics by reducing inflation from 5% to 3% while also capturing some of the network revenue, with up to 15% of captured revenue being used to reduce inflation and burn tokens.

Staking, Network Activity and FLR Utility

FLR staking, one of its utility features, becomes available to the remaining token holders after the end of FlareDrop distribution on January 30, 2026. Protocol-level staking and FTSO delegation are continuing. In February, institutional custody provider Hex Trust began offering native FLR staking to its clients.

Increased technology usage may also result in greater fee burning, as fee payments on Flare Network must be made in FLR. As outlined in FIP.16, this relationship may be further improved

Why Growing FXRP Adoption Does Not Automatically Mean Higher FLR Demand

Additionally, in using FXRP, Flare does not require the user to buy a proportional amount of FLR. According to Flare, the protocol no longer requires as much FLR collateral for issuing FAssets as it would have in an earlier iteration of the network, and has thus reduced its role in the protocol.

This is important for assessing the implications of growing XRPFi usage for FLR demand. While FXRP activity may lead to additional utility and revenue for the ecosystem, its impact on FLR depends on economic mechanisms such as the fee burn, the staking model, and FIP.16. In other words, XRPFi growth does not necessarily lead to FLR price appreciation.

    Flare’s Latest XRPFi Growth Signals

In recent months, Flare’s XRPFi infrastructure has also continued to be expanded, with the earnXRP vault being increased on a number of occasions, and new lending, derivatives, and institutional-grade collateral integrations being added to FXRP.

Clearstar’s earnXRP Vault Expands Its Deposit Capacity

Clearstar’s earnXRP vault, which was launched in December 2025, originally had a cap of 5 million FXRP. In August, Flare announced that, following Clearstar creating additional borrowing venues, the cap had been increased to 45 million FXRP, enabling more FXRP to be lent rather than being left in the earnXRP vault.

The upside to this is that earnXRP pools many strategies, and aggregate successes are returned in XRP. Clearstar curates the strategy within the vault of Upshift.

Flare Continues Adding DeFi and Institutional Integrations

In 2026, more integrations in the ecosystem were added with FXRP lending markets on Morpho, FXRP institutional minting and redemption with Hex Trust, and Derive utilizing FXRP as collateral for XRP options/perpetuals.

Institutional-facing utility grew further in August, when Sentora approved FXRP as collateral in the $280 million RLUSD Main vault on Morpho. In an isolated FXRP/RLUSD market, users could borrow RLUSD against FXRP without selling their XRP exposure.

What Rising FXRP Activity Means for Flare

FXRP supply growth allows for greater amounts of XRP-backed capital on Flare to be used across smart contracts. This includes lending and yield products, spot trading, derivatives and collateral, so there is a larger pool of XRPFi activities that are economically connected to smart contracts on Flare.

That said, activity levels, no matter how high, are far from an indicator that growth is right around the corner. In August, CoinDesk reported that only 155 million FXRP have been minted compared to the 5 billion XRP Flare CEO Hugo Philion predicted would be used in the ecosystem.

FLR Price Analysis: Can Flare Break Above $0.01?

FLR remains well below the psychologically important $0.01 threshold despite its latest rebound. CoinMarketCap puts the token near $0.007, broadly consistent with the provided snapshot at $0.006864. From that range, Flare price would need to gain roughly 43% to reach one cent.

    FLR’s Recent Price Performance

After experiencing volatility in August, FLR opened September close to $0.00588 on 18 August 2023. The price would again cross the $0.007 mark by the end of the month. Currently, FLR price is around $0.0071, with the latest data from CoinGecko showing a double-digit percentage increase in 24 hours.

FLR price 24-hour chart showing Flare token rally and subsequent pullback near $0.007 on September 1, 2026

Prior to the recovery, the token had experienced an abysmal period, with FLR setting an all-time low of $0.005858 on 19 August, and remains over 90% below its all time high in January 2023.

The $0.01 Level as a Key Resistance

FLR $0.01 price level is considered by many to be a major psychological price mark. Although not an actual technical resistance level, the price dropped below $0.008 and momentarily above $0.0081 on Gate.io; this price was reached on 31 August.

That distinction matters when asking can FLR reach $0.01. FLR would first need to recover the remaining gap from its current range; recent price history does not support presenting $0.01 as a level that the token has repeatedly tested and failed to break.

What Would Confirm a Sustainable FLR Breakout?

A single hop above the $0.01 threshold should not be construed as a breakout signal unless FLR simultaneously holds above the $0.01 threshold and does not falls back below the $0.01 threshold quickly.

One last thing that we can watch is the volume. Volume is definitely up over a 24-hour period with the rise, but again, one day is not enough. Consequently, any FLR price forecast should distinguish between a temporary spike and the price settling above $0.01.

What Could Send FLR Above $0.01?

A move above $0.01 would require FLR to rise considerably from its current price, with no clear catalyst that we could identify to cause this. The most influential factors that we found are XRPFi adoption and liquidity depth of FXRP in the ecosystem, as well as overall market conditions.

    Stronger XRPFi Adoption

If XRPFi is used more, Flare may also have more activity. As of May, Flare had a TVL of approximately $200 million in XRP. There have been over 3.4 million FXRP DeFi transactions from approximately 16,500 users. Since then, FXRP has been used as derivatives trading collateralora’s RLUSD vault

However, for Flare price prediction 2026, ecosystem building aside, Flare itself has stated that they should have improved the economic link between XRPFi activity and the native token FLR of Flare blockchain.

Rising FXRP Supply and DeFi Liquidity

FXRP has reached meaningful scale, with Flare reporting the minting of more than 155 million FXRP over the first seven months. The current XRPFi dashboard shows ~149.4 million XRP on Flare and ~122.2 million XRP equivalent DeFi TVL.

Increases in FXRP supply and deployed liquidity may also provide evidence that XRPFi is drawing in capital, but do not guarantee increasing demand for FLR.

    A Broader Crypto Market Rally

Market conditions might have also contributed. While Bitcoin had its best month since November 2024, rising 24% in August, the remainder of the cryptocurrency market entered September in a mixed state with BTC▲$62,630.00 above $78,000 but declines in Ether, Solana, Dogecoin and others over 24 hours.

This sustained rotation into altcoins may be a favorable moment for various smaller cryptocurrencies such as FLR. However, in the absence of a risk-on sentiment, even the good Flare crypto news may not be able to assist FLR in staying above the $0.01 threshold.

Potential Catalyst Current Signal Potential Relevance for FLR
Stronger XRPFi adoption ~$200M XRP TVL; 3.4M+ FXRP DeFi transactions Could increase overall Flare network activity
Rising FXRP supply 155M+ FXRP minted in the first seven months Indicates growing use of XRP within Flare
DeFi liquidity growth ~122.2M XRP-equivalent DeFi TVL More deployed capital could deepen the XRPFi ecosystem
New FXRP utility Derive derivatives and Sentora lending collateral Broadens FXRP beyond basic DeFi use cases
Stronger FLR value accrual Flare is working to strengthen the link between activity and FLR economics Could make ecosystem growth more relevant to token demand
Broader altcoin rally Market conditions remain mixed Stronger risk appetite could provide a more supportive backdrop for FLR

What Could Stop FLR From Breaking $0.01?

Despite continued XRPFi growth, FLR price may struggle to exceed $0.01 due to additional token emission, lack of synergy between XRPFi progress and FLR value proposition, and adverse conditions for small-cap alt-coins in general.

    FLR Supply and Selling Pressure

FLR remains inflationary. FIP.16, adopted in April, proposed reducing the annual inflation rate from 5% to 3% and capping annual inflation at 3 billion FLR instead of 5 billion. It also proposed other supply reduction mechanisms in addition to fee burns and the FIRE system for capturing revenue generated by network use.

These measures reduce future supply but will not have any effect in the short term as FIP.16 is adopted in a phased manner. Future supply, burns, staking, and demand will all matter when drafting a Flare crypto price prediction.

XRPFi Adoption May Not Translate Into FLR Demand

Flare has said these improvements increased the efficiency of FAssets and reduced the amount of FLR compared with the original architecture, while the stablecoin collateral and Core Vault made FAssets more secure and capital efficient, at the same time unlinking the economic demand for FXRP from the economic demand for FLR, with FIP.16 designed to strengthen that link.

That means that XRPFi can grow independent of proportional buying pressure on FLR, and as of May, XRP TVL and FXRP DeFi transaction count were each at about $200 million and 3.4 million, respectively, though this should not be interpreted as a prediction for token performance.

    Weak Altcoin Market Conditions

External market conditions are another challenge, with Bitcoin trading over $81,000 on August 28 for the first time in three months. However, consolidation among altcoins suggests that BTC strength hasn’t necessarily translated to other crypto markets.

Unless there is a meaningful improvement in the liquidity of altcoins and demand for riskier assets, FLR price prediction 2026 does not indicate a substantial increase even with continued release of XRPFi products by Flare. If Flare ecosystem performs well and there is more demand for riskier coins, we could see $0.01.

Flare (FLR) Price Outlook: Bull Case vs. Bear Case

FLR future depends on whether increased XRPFi usage improves token economics for the protocols. The following projections are not price predictions: Flare itself has acknowledged that further work was needed to align network activity with FLR value accrual.

Bull Case: XRPFi Becomes a Major DeFi Growth Engine

For this bullish scenario to unfold, XRPFi would need to continue drawing in new capital and consistent Flare Network usage. As of April, there were over 150 million FXRP in circulation, with 85% of these used for DeFi

Achievements of FIP.16 might further support this vision if its tokenomics proposals (lower inflation and more fee burn to reduce inflation within limits, and a FIRE revenue system that will partially use network revenue to reduce supply) were entirely implemented. This would also create an economic link between using the ecosystem and acquiring FLR.

Base Case: FLR Consolidates Below $0.01

Next would be continued ecosystem development but with weak demand for the token, which would keep FLR beneath the $0.01 level in an extended duration. At the time of writing, FLR was still below 1 cent, but strongly rebounded at the beginning of the month.

This would allow XRPFi to keep gaining traction while FLR stays consolidated. This is a key factor for any Flare price prediction 2026 because crypto adoption and price are two different things.

Bear Case: Ecosystem Growth Fails to Lift the Token

In a bear case, XRPFi continues to grow in terms of users and liquidity, but generates only limited incremental demand for FLR. Flare has said that the increased capital efficiency of FAssets has meant that the role of FLR in the system has been de-stressed compared to the original design.

Although FLR remains inflationary, FIP.16 caps annual inflation rates to 5% and demands a further reduction to 3% after a period. These safeguards stem from concerns that demand may not keep pace with supply issued, resulting in the ecosystem being unable to provide lasting price support.

Scenario What Would Need to Happen Potential FLR Outcome
Bull case XRPFi attracts more capital and FXRP usage continues expanding Stronger network activity could improve the backdrop for FLR
Bull case catalyst FIP.16 strengthens value accrual through lower inflation, fee burns and FIRE Ecosystem revenue could become more closely linked to FLR economics
Base case XRPFi grows, but demand for FLR remains limited FLR could continue consolidating below $0.01
Base case signal Adoption rises without proportional FLR buying pressure Ecosystem growth and token price remain partly disconnected
Bear case FXRP usage expands but generates little incremental FLR demand FLR could remain under pressure despite XRPFi growth
Bear case risk Inflation and new supply outweigh demand and value accrual Ecosystem expansion may fail to provide sustained price support

Can Flare (FLR) Finally Break Above $0.01?

A move above $0.01 is possible, but current data do not confirm that a breakout is imminent. FLR trades around $0.0071, leaving it roughly 41% below the one-cent threshold, although it has gained about 12% over the past 24 hours.

The fundamental backdrop has improved: more than 155 million FXRP has been minted, while Flare’s XRPFi dashboard currently shows about 122 million XRP-equivalent in DeFi TVL.

Whether that growth ultimately pushes FLR above $0.01 will depend on sustained XRPFi activity translating into stronger demand for the native token alongside supportive broader market conditions.

What is Flare and what is it used for?

Flare is a Layer 1 blockchain used to provide decentralized data and smart contracts to assets like XRP. The ecosystem can host dApps for lending, trading, staking, liquidity, and other DeFi applications.

What is FXRP and how does it work?

FXRP is a 1:1 pegged version of XRP created on Flare’s FAssets system, allowing XRP holders to use XRP in smart-contract applications without requiring changes to XRP Ledger.

Why is XRPFi important to the Flare ecosystem?

XRPFi wants to make XRP a base currency for more decentralized financial applications. If more users adopt this currency, they will create more transactions and applications.

Does growing FXRP adoption increase the value of FLR?

Whether gains in network utilization from the addition of further FXRPs translate to the native token depends on increased fees, staking, token supply, and the means by which FXRP holders are benefited.

What factors could influence FLR’s price in 2026?

Factors such as XRPFi adoption rate, activity on the underlying network, issuance and burn of the token, DeFi liquidity, and cryptocurrency market conditions may impact the token price.
