Bitwise Asset Management is pulling the plug on its Dogecoin (DOGE) exchange-traded fund just months after bringing it to market. The company said it would liquidate the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF, ticker BWOW, in October, pointing to a need to align its product lineup with what investors currently want.
BWOW made its debut on Nov. 25, 2025, making its run on the market less than a year long. By Sept. 9, the fund’s net assets stood at roughly $688,000, according to data from Bitwise.
Trading Timeline and Final Date
NYSE Arca has set Oct. 14 as the fund’s last trading day. Investors who want to exit their positions through a market sale have until the close of that session to do so. Starting Oct. 15, Bitwise will stop issuing new shares before the market opens.
On Oct. 14, the company will also begin converting the fund’s DOGE holdings into cash. That process sets the stage for final payouts to investors who remain in the fund after trading ends.

The net asset value used to calculate those payments will be based on Oct. 21 figures, with cash distributions expected on or around Oct. 22. Shareholders do not need to take any action, as redemptions will be handled automatically through their brokers or financial intermediaries, per the fund’s closure notice.
BWOW’s shutdown reflects the limited demand the product attracted since launch. Its sub-$1 million asset base at closing puts it among the smaller ETF closures in the current wave of spot cryptocurrency fund launches in the US.
