In its most recent network data, $XRP Ledger is displaying anodd divergence: while transaction throughput and the number of users interacting with the network are concurrently increasing, a number of traditional activity indicators are sharply declining. The decline in active accounts is the most obvious.
Disparency between indicators
While newly created accounts decreased by the same 25.9% to about 1,500, the metric fell by 25.9 percent to about 10,900. Additionally, payments decreased by 31.6% to roughly 440,000,indicating that regular $XRP payment transfersare not the
However, the overall flow of transactions was precisely the opposite. Successful transactions increased by an even greater 65.5% to 1.9 million, while XRPL processed roughly 2.1 million transactions, a 38.5% increase. The number of transactions per ledger increased by 110.6% to 157.33%
On the other hand, active users represent the most unusual figure. The metric increased 166.5 percent to roughly 489,500 despite the drop in active accounts. Thisdisparity impliesthat the most recent increase cannot be explained by the sudden appearance of hundreds of thousands of new, persistent XRPL accounts.
Rather, the data suggests that network activity has changed in terms of both composition and intensity. Even as the number of traditional active accounts declines, existing infrastructure, automated processes, or applications might be producing significantly more ledger interactions.
Price action takes a turn
The 34% drop in ledgers closed to about 13,500 is another significant factor. Fewer recorded ledger closures within the measured window can mechanically concentratemore transactionsinto each ledger when combined with the enormous increase in transactions per ledger. In contrast, the ledger interval only increased by 1.3% to 3.9 seconds.
A widespread activity boom is also not supported by value-transfer data. While $XRP burned as transaction fees dropped 22%, payment volume fell 19.5% to about 251.3 million $XRP. However, there has been a significant shift in price action. After rising from about $1.00, $XRP recently broke above its major moving averages, reaching as high as $1.70 before falling to $1.48.
During the breakout, trading volume increased significantly. As of right now, XRPL’s statistics show increased transaction execution, but not necessarily increased economic value flowing through the network.
