XRP Faces A Signal Seen Before Three Major Corrections

Getting informed▪AltcoinsSummarize this article with:
The price of the crypto XRP gained nearly 70% before its weekly Super Trend turned green on August 17. This signal remains positive, however its three previous appearances were followed by corrections ranging from 32% to 56%.
In Brief
- XRP has rebounded nearly 70% from its floor near $0.98.
- Its weekly Super Trend recalls three previous signals followed by corrections from 32% to 56%.
- XRP trades between two major technical thresholds: $1.29-$1.30 and $1.52.
- A lasting break above $1.90 could weaken the historic bearish scenario.
- XRP spot ETFs continue to see capital inflows despite a slowdown.
XRP Price Reproduces Three Old Bearish Signals
Since its floor near $0.98, XRP has rebounded to nearly $1.70. However, it failed to maintain its gains. It was trading around $1.38 at the moment.
Ripple’s crypto now sits between two crucial moving averages. The 20-week EMA is around $1.29 to $1.30, while the 50-week EMA forms resistance near $1.52. Therefore, the price has only a narrow margin before testing one of these thresholds.
Analyst ChartNerd has presented a history showing three comparable precedents :
- In 2019, the Super Trend switched to green during the bear market before a 56% correction ;
- After the bottom of the 2020 cycle, a new bullish signal was followed by a 32% pullback ;
- In 2022, XRP had bounced about 90% before meeting the 50-week EMA, then lost 45%.
ChartNerd explains: “bullish Super Trends usually mark local tops.” The analyst nonetheless points out these precedents do not guarantee another drop. Three observations are insufficient to establish a reliable statistical rule.

The signal must also be placed in context. The Super Trend follows market direction based on past prices and volatility. It can therefore confirm an already underway increase late, without itself triggering the subsequent reversal.

XRP Must Break $1.52 Then $1.90
ChartNerd described the current scenario as a compression phase. He stated:
As long as we stay below the 50-week average and above the 20-week average, we are simply in compression.
From $1.38, XRP needs to gain nearly 10% to reach the 50-week EMA at $1.52. A drop toward $1.30 would instead represent a pullback near 6%. These two thresholds therefore define the immediate area to watch.
A move beyond $1.52 might not fully invalidate the cautious scenario. The analyst sets the real structural change around $1.90. XRP should move about 38% from $1.38 to approach this level.
A weekly close above the zone between $1.50 and $1.90 would strengthen the possibility of a return to previous highs. Without such confirmation, a temporary break of the 50-week EMA would simply extend the hesitation phase.
Also, the general context still does not help XRP break away from this setup. Over 24 hours, the token suffered a loss of nearly 4%. Nevertheless, it was up 1.5% over seven days. Its price also remained more than 53% below its level one year ago and 62% below its record of $3.65 set in July 2025.
Recent XRP movements have largely followed those of bitcoin, fluctuating between $77,600 and $80,000. This correlation reduces the impact of XRP’s individual technical signals. Another crypto market drop would thus accelerate a pullback toward the 20-week EMA.
However, derivatives activity has increased. In August, XRP futures volumes exceeded $64 billion across the three main platforms, their best performance in six months. Such an increase indicates renewed interest but can also amplify movements if positions use high leverage.
XRP spot ETFs continue attracting capital. After over $110 million collected last week, their weekly inflows have slowed below $19 million. They amounted to nearly $13.83 million since the start of this week.
XRP thus remains caught between positive institutional flows and a recurring technical warning. A break below $1.29 would reinforce the risk of correction. Conversely, a lasting break above $1.90 could significantly weaken the comparison with previous cycles.
