The U.S. Justice Department seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency linked to Hamas as authorities moved to disrupt the group’s fundraising operations.
According to a September 1 announcement by the DOJ and FBI, authorities also took control of websites, domains and servers they say were used to collect and transfer funds for Hamas and its military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades. The action adds to U.S. efforts to cut off cryptocurrency channels authorities say the group used to raise money.
