STS Digital CEO Says Crypto Prices Are in Winter While Institutional Adoption Is in Summer

Cryptocurrency prices remain weak, but institutions are rapidly adopting blockchain technology, highlighting a divergence between token prices and enterprise uptake.

The Block reported on August 21 that Maxime Seiler, chief executive officer of STS Digital, told the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium a gap is opening up between crypto prices and institutional adoption.

“It is winter for crypto prices, but summer for institutional adoption,” Seiler said. “Just because institutions are entering the market and adopting the technology does not mean capital will necessarily flow into tokens.”

Institutions are adopting the technology itself, he added, focusing on blockchain-based technology and infrastructure rather than investing capital directly in tokens. As a result, broader institutional adoption and the price performance of individual cryptocurrencies can move in different directions.
