How Much Is Strategy’s Bitcoin Position Worth Now?
According to CoinDesk, Strategy owns 840,447 BTC acquired at an average price of $75,385 per coin. With Bitcoin trading near $77,000, the company now holds an unrealized gain of roughly $1.4 billion, or 2.4%, after spending most of 2026 underwater.
At Bitcoin’s July low of $58,000, that unrealized loss had reached $13 billion, equivalent to 20.4% of the company’s total Bitcoin cost basis.
Bitcoin has added nearly 22% over five straight days of gains, the move that pushed Strategy back into the green for the first time in months.
What Strategy Has Been Doing While Bitcoin Was Down?
CoinDesk reported that Strategy sold around 6,916 BTC during the period when Bitcoin traded in the low to mid $60,000s, while simultaneously building its US dollar reserve to $4.8 billion, providing 2.8 years of coverage for dividend payments and other obligations.
A key focus has been restoring its perpetual preferred stock STRC to its $100 par value.
Strategy repurchased roughly $347 million of STRC over the past four weeks, deploying more than a third of its $1 billion buyback authorization with purchases accelerating each week.
A potential additional tailwind is the broader digital credit market recovering alongside Bitcoin. SATA, the perpetual preferred security issued by Strive Asset Management(NASDAQ:ASST), briefly returned to its $100 par value Thursday for the first time in two months.
MSTR Price Prediction: Will MSTR Clear $125?
MSTR is up 10% in premarket trading around $124 Friday, extending Thursday’s 7.81% close in a three-day breakout that finally cleared the $105 resistance that rejected four separate attempts since July.
RSI at 61.84 climbs sharply, with a bullish divergence flagged in July now playing out in full. The 100-day EMA at $122.16 is the immediate test right at current premarket levels.
Key levels for MSTR:
- $122 — 100-day EMA, being tested now
- $157 — 200-day EMA, next major target above
