Solana(SOL) activated V1 on mainnet, expanding maximum transaction size 3.3x as Q3 ecosystem revenue reached $327 million.
Key Points:
- Solana V1 raises the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes.
- The upgrade gives developers more room for ZK proofs, multisignature transactions and other data-heavy operations.
- Solana ecosystem revenue reached $327 million in Q3 so far, up 23.4% from $265 million in Q2.
Solana V1 Upgrade
Solana’s V1 transaction format went live on mainnet on Sept. 15, increasing the maximum transaction size to 4,096 bytes from 1,232 bytes, according to the Solana Foundation. The change gives developers about 3.3 times more space inside a single transaction while leaving existing legacy and V0 transaction formats available.
The Foundation said the larger format can support workloads that previously could not fit into one transaction, including zero-knowledge proofs, large multisignature operations and some on-chain signature schemes. Applications that want the added capacity must adopt V1, while wallets and apps that do not need it can continue using older formats.
The upgrade arrives during a period of heavy network use. Data cited from Blockworks showed non-vote transactions exceeded 10 billion in the first quarter of 2026 and reached roughly 9.7 billion in the second quarter.
SOL Revenue Outlook
Greater transaction capacity does not guarantee higher revenue, but it gives Solana applications more room to handle complex activity across decentralized finance, stablecoins, decentralized exchanges and derivatives. That matters because the network already supports a broad mix of applications, and heavier use of those products can generate more fees if demand continues to grow.
Data cited from DeFiLlama showed Solana’s on-chain economy generated $327 million in revenue during Q3 so far, up from $265 million in Q2.
That represents a 23.4% increase before the quarter has ended, although the V1 upgrade itself should not be treated as the cause of that growth.
The longer-term question is whether additional transaction capacity produces more economic value for the network and its token. Solana entered the second half of 2026 after processing close to 10 billion non-vote transactions per quarter, giving V1 an already active base on which developers can build larger and more complex applications.
