Robinhood Markets shares fell on Sept. 4 after Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest added exposure to the brokerage. TradingView showed Robinhood Stock closed at $122.11, down 2.09% from the prior session. The pullback followed a 16.57% surge the day before, while criticism of tokenized stock added another company-specific risk.

The move mattered because Robinhood increasingly ties its equity story to crypto infrastructure and tokenized finance. Its Robinhood Chain now supports stock tokens, decentralized trading, lending, and other onchain services. That strategy may broaden revenuedisputes

ARK Invest’s Sept. 4 daily trade disclosure showed its ARK Innovation ETF bought 28,589 Robinhood shares. The purchase was estimated at about $3.57 million based on ARK’s disclosed trade value.

ARK’s official holdings data also showed that Robinhood remained a major position in the ARK Innovation ETF. HOOD represented 4.28% of the fund on Sept. 4, with a market value near $282.8 million.

The Hood stock price still finished lower after the purchase was made public. TradingView showed HOOD closed at $122.11 after trading near $124.72 the previous session. The decline followed Thursday’s 16.57% advance, which pushed the stock sharply above Sept. 2 levels.

That earlier rally came as several Wall Street firms raised their expectations for Robinhood. Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys raised his price target to $150 and upgraded the stock. He cited broader product adoption and higher customer monetization, Barron’s reported.

Robinhood’s own financial results supported part of that thesis. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $1.31 billion, up 32% year over year. Transaction-based revenue rose 44% to $776 million during the quarter.

Robinhood Stock Faces Tokenized Equity Dispute

AMC Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Adam Aron criticized Robinhood’s stock-token business on Sept. 4. Aron objected to tokens tracking AMC shares without the theater operator’s approval.

Robinhood’s quarterly filing described Stock Tokens as tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets Jersey Limited. The filing stated that holders receive economic exposure without legal or beneficial ownership of underlying shares.

The company also stated that Stock Tokens are not registered under U.S. securities laws. Robinhood restricted its availability in several jurisdictions, among them the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

Aron said AMC would ask outside securities counsel to review the structure. He also questioned how Robinhood could offer AMC-linked products without the company’s participation.

The dispute matters because tokenized equities are central to Robinhood’s international expansion strategy. Robinhood launched its public Chain mainnet in July using the Arbitrum technology stack. It also made Stock Tokens available to eligible users across more than 120 countries.

Robinhood Chain Expands Business Beyond Brokerage

Robinhood said its Chain was designed for financial services and real-world assets. The network supports decentralized exchanges, lending markets, and tokenized securities.

DefiLlama data showed Robinhood Chain held about $868 million in total value locked in decentralized finance. The tracker also showed roughly $5.44 million in 24-hour chain revenue at the latest reading.

Those figures added another revenue channel beyond Robinhood’s core brokerage operations. Still, chain activity can fluctuate sharply with transaction demand and market conditions.

DefiLlama also recorded about $1.77 billion in decentralized-exchange volume over 24 hours. That activity showed the network was processing demand beyond stock-token transfers.

Robinhood’s second-quarter results showed crypto revenue fell 38% year over year to $100 million. That decline contrasted with stronger revenue from equities, options, and event contracts during the same quarter.

Event-contract revenue reached $156 million, while equities revenue rose 95% to $129 million. Options revenue increased 29% to $342 million, according to Robinhood’s earnings release.

HOOD Eyes Next Corporate Catalyst

The next scheduled corporate event comes on Sept. 9, when Robinhood attends Goldman Sachs’ technology conference. The company disclosed the appearance through its investor-relations calendar.

Investors may focus on updates covering tokenization, prediction markets, crypto trading, and international expansion. Those areas now contribute more directly to Robinhood’s growth narrative and valuation debate. Management may also face questions about issuer objections to products tracking listed equities.

For the Hood stock price, Friday’s pullback did not erase Thursday’s rally. However, the AMC dispute introduced another legal and reputational risk related to the company’s tokenized equity strategy.

Robinhood Stock now trades between strong recent momentum and questions around newer business lines. The Sept. 9 presentation offers the next opportunity for management to address those issues.
