According to Pompliano, the U.S. debt burden, which exceeded $40 trillion by September 2026 with annual servicing costs of more than $1 trillion, will become the defining macroeconomic factor for financial markets. U.S. policymakers have only two ways out of the deadlock, and the Bitcoin + AI combination fully covers the risks associated with both scenarios.
“The best combination of assets for the next two decades will be Bitcoin and AI, but not for the reason you think… You own Bitcoin to benefit from inflation and you own AI to benefit from growth. Due to its strictly limited supply, the cryptocurrency could absorb trillions of newly printed dollars, potentially pushing $BTC above $1 million over time.

AI stack as a growth engine: If policymakers bet on economic expansion and aggressive growth, AI will become the key technology driving explosive productivity gains. Investors need exposure to AI infrastructure to capture outsized returns from this technological breakthrough.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan has endorsed the same “dual-stack” strategy, urging the market to stop debating and buy both assets simultaneously: “If you want to win in either scenario, own both.”
Data from 2026 demonstrate the mutual hedging effect. At the beginning of the summer, Bitcoin’s 33% decline amid the Federal Reserve’s tight monetary policy was fully offset by gains among semiconductor giants, with Micron rising 224.97% and AMD gaining 108.80% since January.
In late August, by contrast, Bitcoin’s powerful V-shaped rally compensated for the correction in the AI sector.
