Crypto & Digital Asset Business News
Mirae Asset Financial Group founder and chairman Park Hyeon-joo has set a 150 trillion won ($109 billion) revenue target for the South Korean conglomerate’s digital asset business, with a recently renamed crypto exchange as its primary vehicle.
Park outlined the figure at an employee event in Seoul on Aug. 26 The event was called “A New Voyage Begins, Together.”
Korbit Acquisition Laid the Groundwork
The business is built around Digital X, the operating company formed after Mirae Asset Consulting, an affiliate of Mirae Asset Financial Group, acquired a 97% stake in South Korean crypto exchange Korbit in July 2026. Mirae renamed Korbit’s operating company Digital X following the deal.
Park said the group intends to use Mirae’s 1,500 trillion won in existing client assets as a base for growing Digital X. He set profitability for the digital asset unit as a goal for 2027 and described it as a core pillar of what he called “Mirae Asset 3.0.”
To fund the expansion, Mirae Asset is considering a capital injection of up to 300 billion won ($218 million). The group may carry out a third-party allotment of between 200 billion and 300 billion won in the first quarter of 2027, depending on how quickly the business improves its earnings.

Tokenized Commodities and On-Chain Finance
Digital X is structured around four areas: crypto, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings. The company plans to tokenize physical commodities, with gold, silver, and electricity identified as initial targets.
Beyond those categories, Digital X intends to develop financial products built on digital assets, make proprietary investments, and build what Park described as an “on-chain finance” ecosystem. He said the longer-term objective is a global platform that combines traditional and digital finance, with Digital X at its center.
