Strategy Inc. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor hinted on social media that the company may soon resume Bitcoin purchases after a 10-week pause. His post showed the firm’s holdings chart with the message “We’re ₿ack,” sparking speculation of a Monday announcement. Strategy currently holds 840,447 BTC worth about $65.72 billion, down slightly from late June after selling some Bitcoin during the hiatus. The company spent the pause focused on capital management, including stock sales, STRC preferred share buybacks, and building $6.69 billion in dollar liquidity. Bitcoin’s August rally above $78,000 has returned Strategy’s position to profitability for the first time since May.

Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy Inc. (MSTR), posted a cryptic message on social media Sunday suggesting the company may soon resume its Bitcoin (BTC) accumulation program after a 10-week hiatus.
“We’re ₿ack,” Saylor wrote on X alongside a chart displaying the firm’s Bitcoin purchases over the past six years. The post immediately sparked speculation among retail investors that a formal purchase announcement could arrive as early as Monday.
The company, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally, currently holds 840,447 BTC valued at approximately $65.72 billion. That figure is down slightly from the 847,363 BTC it held in late June, reflecting sales executed during the pause.
Strategy last reported a Bitcoin purchase on June 22, when it acquired 520 BTC for about $34.9 million at an average price of $67,068 per coin. That transaction, partially funded by the sale of $335.5 million in MSTR shares, was the company’s smallest acquisition of 2026.
Since then, the firm has pivoted toward what CEO Phong Le described as “active capital management.” The strategy included selling Bitcoin in tranches, most notably 1,690 BTC for $108.6 million earlier in August. Proceeds were used to repurchase 1.15 million shares of its STRC preferred stock, a variable-rate perpetual instrument the company uses to raise cash.
The capital management drive also involved repeatedly tapping an at-the-market stock-sale program, raising roughly $2.01 billion between August 17 and August 23. Strategy additionally increased the dividend on its Stretch preferred stock to 12% effective July 1.
Those moves boosted the company’s combined dollar liquidity to $6.69 billion, including a restricted USD reserve of $5.10 billion and USD cash of $1.59 billion.
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current BTC holdings | 840,447 BTC |
| Holdings value | $65.72 billion |
| Combined dollar liquidity | $6.69 billion |
| Restricted USD reserve | $5.10 billion |
| USD cash | $1.59 billion |
| Average BTC acquisition cost | $75,653 |
Note: Figures reflect data as of Saylor’s Sunday post and recent company disclosures.
The renewed buying signal comes as Bitcoin has staged a significant recovery, climbing more than 25% in August. The cryptocurrency traded near $78,000 on Sunday, up roughly 1% over the prior 24 hours.
That price level carries particular significance for Strategy. With an average acquisition cost of $75,653 per BTC, the company’s position has returned to profitability for the first time since May, after being down on paper by more than $10 billion just weeks ago.
Some market participants cautioned that Saylor’s message could refer to something other than a new purchase. The chart he posted may simply highlight that the company’s Bitcoin position has turned green again following the recent price rally.
Phong Le has previously indicated that Strategy could resume Bitcoin purchases before the end of the year, though he offered no specific timeline. If a new acquisition is announced Monday, it would end the longest stretch without a Bitcoin buy in 2026 and mark a return to the accumulation strategy that has defined the company’s identity.
MSTR shares closed down more than 7% on Friday. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits remained in the “extremely bullish” zone, with discussion activity at “high” levels over the past day. Sentiment around Bitcoin itself was similarly positive, sitting in the “bullish” range.
