Injective Institutional Services, an affiliate of the Injective blockchain ecosystem, has secured registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a transfer agent, the company announced on Aug. 19. The registration gives the entity a regulated function to maintain securities ownership records and process ownership changes, a role that sits at the core of traditional securities market infrastructure.

Transfer agents are a foundational part of how US securities markets operate. They keep official records of who owns a security and handle ownership transfers, distributions, and corporate actions. Injective sayspairing that function with blockchain technology will make transactions faster, more transparent, and easier to automate.

Injective Plans To Combine Transfer Agent Role With Its Tokenization Platform

The company plans to integrate the transfer agent registration with Injective Mint, its platform for issuing and managing tokenized assets. That combination would allow Injective to handle both the issuance and the regulated recordkeeping of tokenized securities on a single blockchain infrastructure. Injective saidin an Aug. 19 post on X that it is “the first layer 1 blockchain to possess the RWA infrastructure and regulatory readiness needed to accelerate tokenization to new heights.”
Injective filed its application to register as a transfer agent with the SEC in July 2026. The registration follows an expansion of itsreal-world asset (RWA) tokenization efforts, including markets offering exposure to digital asset treasury companies, equities, and pre-IPO companies. Injective launched pre-IPO perpetual futures in October 2025, providing exposure to private companies including OpenAI.

INJ Token Rose 8% Following the Announcement

Injective’s native token, Injective (INJ), traded 8% higher at the time of the announcement, giving it a market cap of approximately $450 million. The registration arrives as institutional interest in tokenizationaccelerates, with traditional financial firms increasingly exploring blockchain-based issuance, trading, and settlement infrastructure.
Injective is adecentralized finance (DeFi)-focused layer-1 blockchain that was incubated by Binance. Its backers include Jump Crypto, Pantera Capital and Mark Cuban. The SEC transfer agent registration moves Injective beyond the asset issuance and trading layer into the regulated plumbing that determines legal ownership of securities in the US market.
