XRPL developers have proposed four code changes to close a loophole that allowed users to hold assets without prior approval from token issuers, CoinDesk reported. The changes would be included in the “fixCleanup3_5_0” network upgrade and have not yet been deployed on mainnet.
On the XRP Ledger, issuers of assets such as stablecoins or fund tokens can require prior approval for token holdings as part of user identity checks. But a loophole was found that could bypass that process through automated market maker liquidity pools and through approval checks for accounts already holding tokens. Developers are now pushing to require holding approval for both assets that make up an AMM liquidity pool when users acquire the pool’s LP tokens, while also applying the approval requirement to accounts that already hold the tokens.
