U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh declined to comment when asked about President Donald Trump’s remarks on the Fed board and his criticism of the central bank. Warsh said he would not comment on statements by public officials.
Earlier, Trump said his confidence in Warsh remained unchanged, while adding that the Fed chair was dealing with a hostile board that was difficult to manage. Trump also said interest rates were too high and stressed that the U.S. should have some of the lowest rates in the world. He had also said he hoped Warsh’s independence would be maintained.
