Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said on X that for multisig wallets, an ideal safety rule is for each signer to change keys after every action.
Buterin added that advances in AI-driven mathematical research could quickly threaten existing cryptographic systems. He said that under the assumption ECDSA could weaken, but not to the point where an attacker could instantly crack a signature, each signer should rotate keys after every action. He added that the time between a signature becoming public and the relevant key no longer being active should be minimized.
If possible, multisig signatures should be collected off-chain, Buterin said. He also warned that rushing an upgrade in a misconfigured state could make it easier to lose funds, and said no action should be rushed.
