A New York jury has convicted cybersecurity consultant Jonathan Spalletta over the theft of about $55 million from crypto platform Uranium Finance, Bloomberg reported. Prosecutors argued Spalletta carried out two attacks in 2021 and laundered the funds through mixing services including Tornado Cash. The money-laundering charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, and sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 16 next year. Investigators also seized cryptocurrency worth about $31 million from Spalletta’s home.
