More than 10,000 customer complaints were filed over roughly three months as major UK banks restricted transfers to crypto platforms, Cointelegraph reported.
According to crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto, 9,803 people filed a total of 10,092 complaints against UK banks through the group’s online platform from May through August. Lloyds Banking Group accounted for the most complaints with 2,297, followed by Barclays with 1,569 and NatWest Group with 1,278.
Barclays and HSBC UK cap crypto transfers at £2,500 ($3,300) per transaction and £10,000 ($13,300) over 30 days. Six banks, including Starling Bank, TSB and Chase UK, were classified as imposing blanket bans on crypto-related transfers. By contrast, Lloyds Banking Group and Revolut were classified as having no officially announced transfer restriction policy, though customer complaints were still filed.
