A U.S. conservative nonprofit, the Center for Common Sense Leadership Fund, placed full-page advertisements in The Wall Street Journal for a second straight day warning about the risks of stock tokens, The Block reported. The group argued stock tokens in a regulatory blind spot could create eight problems, including price dislocations, ownership disputes, hacking, market manipulation, anti-money laundering loopholes, weak investor protections and legal liability. Separately, 22 companies including Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, McDonald’s and Alphabet have also expressed opposition to the issue, according to the report.
