U.S. House committees are continuing work on crypto-related legislation even as Senate passage of the Clarity Act has effectively become difficult, Eleanor Terrett, host of the U.S. podcast “Crypto In America,” said.
According to Terrett, the House Ways and Means Committee is holding a markup today on H.R.10357, the Digital Asset Tax Clarity Act, which covers the tax framework for digital assets. At the same time, the House Financial Services Committee is beginning markup on multiple bills, including H.R.8957, the Reserve Modernization Act, a bill on a strategic Bitcoin reserve introduced by Rep. Nick Begich. Markup is the process in which a committee reviews a bill, considers amendments, and decides whether to advance it to the full chamber.
