Stripe announced on Oct. 15, citing its official channel, that it has entered into a partnership with Plasma (XPL), a blockchain project focused on stablecoin payments, to jointly develop and launch a multicurrency stablecoin card.
The card is intended to support multiple fiat currencies, including the U.S. dollar, euro and Brazilian real, as well as stablecoins such as USDC and OUSD. The goal is to let users pay directly with their held currency and reduce unnecessary foreign exchange costs. The related infrastructure is currently available in more than 30 countries, and Stripe plans to expand supported regions to more than 100 countries in 2027. The company also plans to add a feature that automatically selects the most suitable currency for payment from multiple balance holdings.
