Starknet (STRK) has begun a seven-day community vote to assess a possible transition from an Ethereum layer-two network to a standalone layer-one blockchain with quantum resistance.
Starknet said it has already secured quantum resistance in its core protocol through STARK proofs and account abstraction, but elements that rely on Ethereum, including bridges and data availability, remain affected by Ethereum’s own quantum-resistance upgrades. The vote is intended to gauge community sentiment, and if approved, Starknet plans further research into specific transition options. Regardless of whether the transition moves forward, STRK will remain the native token and there are no plans to issue a new token.
