South Korea’s ruling Democratic Party will hold a meeting with the heads of the country’s five largest crypto exchanges on Oct. 30 in the morning as it seeks to coordinate internal differences ahead of a fourth decision to delay virtual asset taxation, JoongAng Ilbo reported.
The meeting, led by the party’s policy committee, is also set to include Democratic Party lawmakers on the planning and finance committee responsible for reviewing the tax-delay bill, according to the report. An industry official said the meeting was arranged on short notice and appeared intended to hear industry views and explain the need for another delay, as the political burden of postponing taxation again remains significant. The official added there had been a request for participants to speak candidly about the difficulties involved.
