South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges Gopax and Prabang posted apologies over recent personal and credit information leaks.
Gopax said it confirmed in early October 2026 abnormal access to some customer accounts dating back to early September, along with signs that some information, including nicknames and login records, had been viewed. Gopax added that, so far, it has not confirmed any abnormal withdrawals of customers’ won or crypto assets or any asset losses.
Prabang said it confirmed around Oct. 2, 2026 that an unauthorized external party used abnormal methods to leak information on about 20 customers from some of its services. The company said the exposed personal data covered 12 items, including names in Korean, names in English and gender. Prabang added it had completed emergency measures including blocking the relevant access IPs and monitoring abnormal access, and also carried out additional checks and remediation for website vulnerabilities.
Earlier, South Korea’s Financial Services Commission said at the second emergency response meeting on Oct. 14 that the number of financial companies with confirmed security breaches had expanded to 16, including Gopax and Prabang.
