South Korean financial authorities will block the websites of 27 virtual asset operators that have been serving the domestic market without registration, Edaily reported.
According to South Korea’s Financial Intelligence Unit under the Financial Services Commission on Oct. 13, the Korea Communications Standards Commission decided after two rounds of deliberation on Oct. 6 and Oct. 7 to block domestic access to, or terminate use of, 27 websites run by unregistered virtual asset service providers. The move expands earlier restrictions that had limited mobile app installations through app markets such as Google and Apple to include direct access to websites.
