Solidus Labs said it detected $170 million in suspected spoofing orders in Hyperliquid’s HYPE crude oil perpetual futures market, Bloomberg reported. Solidus Labs said two accounts appeared to place large orders in one direction, cancel them, and simultaneously execute trades in the opposite direction in an apparent attempt to move prices. The firm said the accounts made about $119,000 in profit from March 8 to 10 and accounted for more than 90% of all canceled orders, while adding that further tracking is needed to prove spoofing.
Hyperliquid pushed back, saying all orders and trades are publicly visible, making any spoofing activity verifiable. CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange have also called for tighter regulation of Hyperliquid, according to the report.
