Phishing emails sent yesterday to users of hardware wallet makers Trezor and BitBox were carried out by exploiting a flaw in the login system of Brevo, the email service provider used by both companies, Cointelegraph reported. The attackers accessed 138 Brevo customer accounts and sent phishing emails from six of them, while similar emails were also sent from crypto tax platform CoinTracking.
At Trezor, the phishing emails were sent to about 347,000 users, and around 2,500 clicked the malicious link. Trezor blocked the domain in about 20 minutes and warned users to stay alert, as newsletter email addresses could be misused in additional phishing attempts.
