The Osmosis community has begun discussing a proposal to halt new issuance of the OSMO token. If passed, the proposal would stop daily new OSMO issuance through the Mint module, with staking rewards to be paid only from protocol revenue.
The proposal also includes halting daily vesting distributions paid to developers. About 51.9 million OSMO remains in the vesting module account, and any further distributions would require a separate governance decision. The onchain vote is scheduled for Oct. 20.
