A former KakaoBank employee is under police investigation on allegations of leaking customer withdrawal transaction data to an outside party and receiving about 1 million won worth of Tether per case in return, SBS Biz reported.
The employee, identified only as A, was found to have improperly accessed the transaction histories of seven accounts for non-work purposes between June 5 and June 12. KakaoBank said it became aware of the incident through a tip on June 29 and reported it to South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service the following day. The employee was dismissed in late July and has been reported to investigative authorities and detained, according to the report.
