Former acting U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chair Caroline Pham said in a recent interview with The Block that additional congressional legislation is not necessarily required for crypto regulation.
Pham said the CFTC, under the existing Commodity Exchange Act, can exercise jurisdiction over virtually all commodities except onions and movie box office revenue, and described recently proposed rules as measures needed to protect U.S. retail investors. Pham also said the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are likely to list tokenized stocks within the next two years, with actual trading and meaningful volumes expected to follow.
