EU regulators warn quantum computing advances could threaten blockchain security

The European Banking Authority, the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority, and the European Securities and Markets Authority warned that advances in quantum computing could threaten the cryptographic systems used to secure blockchains, Cointelegraph reported. The agencies said future quantum computers could enable unauthorized transactions if they become capable of deriving private keys from public keys.
