Dragonfly Capital managing partner Haseeb Qureshi said crypto is needed more by people than by AI agents, contrary to forecasts earlier this year that AI agents would broadly adopt crypto payments.
According to ChainCatcher, Qureshi made the remarks while attending the Token2049 conference in Singapore. Qureshi said existing payment networks such as credit cards are already available to AI agents, so crypto is not separately necessary for them. Instead, Qureshi said AI agents could help people use crypto with greater confidence by filtering out mistakes like a bank would.
Qureshi also argued that as AI sharply lowers the cost of surveillance and physical attacks increase, crypto and private AI could become a last line of defense for reclaiming privacy against state power.
