Daishin Securities said uncertainty could grow around the timing of Naver’s combination with Dunamu and the visibility of its stablecoin business as regulatory efforts on digital assets in the U.S. and South Korea are delayed.
According to News1, Daishin said setbacks to legislation on the U.S. CLARITY Act could also weigh on South Korea’s efforts to establish a legal framework for digital assets. Daishin analyst Jung Hae-chang said delays in U.S. legislation would weaken external momentum for faster lawmaking in South Korea, as unresolved issues such as rules on issuers and exchange ownership stakes, along with concerns over global regulatory arbitrage, reduce the incentive to move quickly. Jung added that Naver Financial’s business combination with Dunamu could also face further delays, while noting passage of a basic law on digital assets has not been explicitly specified as a mandatory prerequisite for the combination.
