Hok Seng Ling, an accomplice in the Chenzhimin case involving the laundering of criminal proceeds into Bitcoin between the UK and China after a $7 billion Ponzi scheme, has returned about 5.6 million pounds ($7.5 million) in criminal proceeds to the UK government, the Daily Mail reported. Ling, a 48-year-old Malaysian, was known as an associate of Chenzhimin, who allegedly defrauded more than 128,000 Chinese investors between 2014 and 2017, converted the proceeds into Bitcoin and fled to the UK. Most of the returned funds came from cryptocurrency seized by UK authorities at the time of Ling’s arrest.
