The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved at least three confidential investigations into suspected insider trading on prediction platform Polymarket, according to documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, Wired reported.
The CFTC approved a probe in May into a Biden administration pardon contract that generated more than $300,000 in profit for one trader, as well as an “Iran war” contract tied to suspicious accounts that made $2.4 million with a 98% win rate, according to the report. In July, the agency expanded the investigation to Google-linked contracts over allegations involving nonpublic information related to Google search rankings in 2025, while the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York also opened a parallel investigation. Polymarket said it would fully cooperate with investigators.
