Itaú Unibanco, Brazil’s largest private bank, has become the first local bank to complete a crypto brokerage registration, CoinDesk reported. On Oct. 27, local time, Itaú notified Brazil’s central bank that it operates cryptocurrency trading and custody services. In Brazil, licensed banks that provide crypto services must notify authorities by Oct. 30. Itaú has operated crypto services since December 2023 and currently supports trading in 15 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and USDC.
