Bitcoin’s volatility has declined as the market has matured over the past decade, with one-year realized volatility falling to 43%, down sharply from 81% five years ago and now within the range of S&P 500 constituents, according to a Grayscale report.
Grayscale attributed the decline to deeper market liquidity, rising participation by institutional investors and changes in the regulatory environment. The firm added that for investors accustomed to buying volatile stocks, Bitcoin price swings may be less burdensome than expected.
