A CoinDesk analysis found Bitcoin has again completed a golden cross, a widely watched bullish technical signal, but past cases show the pattern has often been followed by a near-term price pullback.
CoinDesk said BTC rose about 32% from $62,000 to $82,000 before the golden cross was confirmed earlier this week, when the 50-day moving average crossed above the 200-day moving average. After the signal was confirmed, the price slipped from around $80,000 to $77,000. CoinDesk added similar moves were seen in the past, including in 2023, when BTC climbed from $16,000 to $23,000 before a golden cross appeared and then corrected to around $20,000. The outlet said similar patterns were also observed in October 2024 and in 2025. It explained that while a golden cross is viewed as a long-term bullish signal, it does not necessarily guarantee further short-term gains for Bitcoin, as the indicator is based on moving averages and tends to lag actual price action, meaning much of the rally may already be exhausted by the time the signal appears.
