U.Today reported that U.S. market analyst Jesse Eckel said advances in artificial gold production technology could make Bitcoin’s scarcity a stronger competitive advantage than gold’s.
In a post on X, Eckel said artificially produced gold could eventually become cheaper, much like synthetic diamonds, and technological progress may weaken gold’s scarcity over the long term. Eckel added that San Francisco-based startup Marathon Fusion has made technical progress in converting mercury into gold. As the technology develops, gold supply could increase, while Bitcoin’s total supply remains mathematically capped, which Eckel said could strengthen Bitcoin’s scarcity advantage over the long run.
