About 22% of U.S. adults said they have owned or used cryptocurrency, up from 18% in 2025, Decrypt reported, citing an Ipsos survey.
The survey found 13% had used cryptocurrency over the past 12 months, unchanged from a year earlier, while 17% said they were likely to own or use crypto in the future, similar to 16% last year. It also pointed to unease with the existing financial system, with only 19% of respondents saying the system is safe and 63% saying it should be improved to address threats such as cybercrime and AI.
Still, that favorable view did not translate into trust in crypto. Just 4% said they had high trust in cryptocurrency exchanges, while 5% said the same of decentralized platforms. By comparison, 42% said they had high trust in large national banks. The survey was conducted among 1,545 Americans on behalf of the DeFi Education Fund.
