Dogecoin’s(CRYPTO: DOGE) official X account played on the memecoin’s long-running “to the moon” meme on Monday in response to President Donald Trump’s Truth Social post.
DOGE’s Playful Reply to Trump
Trump shared an image of the lunar surface overlaid with the text “THE MOON IS OURS” on Sunday.
“Ahem, there is a queue,” Dogecoin responded.
“DOGE to the moon” is <a href="https://xpertsstudio.com/cryptocurrency-market-sectors-partially-rise-ai-sector-gains-over-4/” title=”Cryptocurrency market sectors partially rise, AI sector gains over 4%”>cryptocurrency slang signaling that the dog-themed memecoin’s price will skyrocket to parabolic highs. But what began as a meme has grown into something far more serious.
‘To the Moon’ Literally?
Elon Musk, known for his long-term affinity toward Dogecoin, said in February that his space technology company, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX), willlikely put the memecoin “on the moon” next year.
DOGE-1 is a lunar orbital mission planned by Canadian research firm Geometric Energy Corporation, paid for entirely with Dogecoin. It was originally slated to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in 2022, but it has faced multiple delays.
The mission is now targetinga Sept. 14 launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Price Action: At the time of writing, DOGE was exchanging hands at $0.09145, up 0.66% over the last 24 hours, according to data from Benzinga Pro. The memecoin is up 8% over the week.
