DigitalX (formerly Korbit) will eliminate all trading fees across its entire KRW Market lineup for one year starting August 24 at 9 a.m. The fee waiver applies automatically to all members without separate registration and runs through August 24, 2027, at 9 a.m. CEO Oh Se-jin described the move as a responsible measure toward investors and said the company is preparing new products and services in collaboration with Mirae Asset Group. The decision marks the first large-scale customer acquisition strategy since Mirae Asset Group’s takeover of the exchange. Industry observers warn the move could trigger a race-to-the-bottom price war among South Korean crypto exchanges. The key challenge will be whether DigitalX can retain customers after the fee-free period ends.
Key Elements

DigitalX (formerly Korbit) will eliminate all trading fees across its entire KRW Market lineup for one year starting August 24. The move is widely seen as an aggressive push to gain market share in South Korea’s crypto exchange market following its acquisition by Mirae Asset Group, though it has also raised concerns about triggering an industry-wide price war.
DigitalX announced on August 23 that the promotional period will run from 9 a.m. on August 24, 2026, through 9 a.m. on August 24, 2027. All orders executed during this period will be exempt from trading fees, and the benefit applies automatically to all members without separate registration. Notably, this is not a short-term promotion but a year-long customer benefit program.
Oh Se-jin, CEO of DigitalX, said, “I believe investors have endured particularly difficult times amid the challenging conditions in the digital asset market. Through this full fee waiver, we hope to demonstrate a measure of accountability to our customers.”
Oh added, “Beyond eliminating trading fees, we are also preparing a diverse lineup of products and services that can open new horizons for the digital asset market. Building on close collaboration through our customer alliance with Mirae Asset Group, we will create differentiated competitive advantages.”
First Major Marketing Push Since Mirae Asset Acquisition
DigitalX traces its roots to Korbit, founded in 2013. It was one of South Korea’s first crypto exchanges but saw its market share dwindle to single digits as larger platforms like Upbit and Bithumb came to dominate. Mirae Asset Group acquired Korbit in 2025, formally entering the crypto business and rebranding the exchange as DigitalX.
This fee elimination is being interpreted as the first large-scale customer acquisition strategy backed by Mirae Asset Group’s financial strength. Trading fees are a core revenuels that the company is prioritizing market share expansion over short-term profitability
Concerns Over a Race to the Bottom
Industry observers, however, warn that this decision could escalate into a full-blown price war among South Korean crypto exchanges. Upbit holds a dominant No. 1 position in the country’s KRW market, followed by Bithumb, Coinone, and Gopax. For small and mid-sized exchanges with virtually no fee revenue to fall back on, DigitalX’s zero-fee policy—backed by deep-pocketed capital—is bound to create significant pressure.
While eliminating fees may attract trading volume in the short term, whether DigitalX can prevent customer churn after the promotional period ends remains an open question. Fee-sensitive investors tend to migrate to whichever exchange offers the lowest costs at any given time.
DigitalX has signaled that it will pair the fee waiver with new product and service launches as part of a parallel long-term customer retention strategy. Services linked to Mirae Asset Group’s existing financial infrastructure are expected to be the key factor going forward.
