Cryptocurrency-linked shares continued their advance on Friday as Bitcoin (COIN:BTCUSD) climbed to its highest levels since late May, supported by renewed optimism over US digital asset regulation and improving appetite for risk.
The latest gains followed President Donald Trump’s call for lawmakers to establish clearer rules for the cryptocurrency industry, adding regulatory momentum to a market already benefiting from Bitcoin’s sharp recovery.
Elsewhere, MARA Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA) climbed 5.4%, Galaxy Digital (NASDAQ:GLXY) rose 5%, Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD) added 4.7%, Riot Platforms (NASDAQ:RIOT) gained 3.7%, while Hut 8 (NASDAQ:HUT) increased 2.4%.
Bitcoin breaks out of 2026 trading range
The rally in crypto-related equities mirrored a sharp move higher in Bitcoin, which jumped 8.9% to $78,135.60 after briefly reaching an intraday high of $79,600.60.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency has now broken decisively above the roughly $60,000-to-$70,000 range that contained prices for much of 2026.
That breakout has strengthened sentiment towards companies whose revenues, balance sheets or trading activity are closely connected to digital assets, amplifying gains across the crypto equity sector.
Treasury bond buybacks support appetite for risk
A broader improvement in risk sentiment also contributed to the advance after the US Treasury Department announced plans to double its bond buybacks in an effort to contain rising yields.
The decision to increase purchases of longer-duration debt followed a sharp bond-market selloff that pushed the 30-year Treasury yield to its highest level since 2007.
Higher government bond yields can create a difficult environment for cryptocurrencies and other risk assets because they increase the returns available from comparatively safer investments.
Although the Treasury intervention was relatively limited and its impact on bond prices proved short-lived, the announcement nevertheless provided a favourable signal for cryptocurrency markets.
Trump urges Congress to advance crypto legislation
Regulatory developments provided another important catalyst after Trump used a White House summit earlier this week to urge Congress to move forward with the Clarity Act.
The closely watched legislation is intended to establish a clearer regulatory framework for the US cryptocurrency industry, potentially reducing some of the uncertainty that has surrounded digital asset businesses.
