- Coinbase Global (NasdaqGS:COIN) and Better Home & Finance have launched a Bitcoin-backed mortgage product to general availability in the US.
- The offering lets qualified homebuyers use Bitcoin as collateral for a down payment on a conforming mortgage, expanding access to crypto-backed home loans.
- Supporters highlight a new use case for digital assets in real estate transactions, while critics question the product’s complexity and potential costs versus traditional mortgages.
This launch ties into a broader shift where digital asset infrastructure and traditional finance technology intersect, which also affects the ecosystem around 55 AI infrastructure stocks.
Coinbase Global operates a large US and international platform for trading and custody of crypto assets, so this mortgage launch extends its role from facilitating transactions into supporting products that link digital assets with traditional housing finance.
What a Bitcoin-backed mortgage means for the Coinbase Global Narrative
The Coinbase Global Narrative says the company’s long-term story depends on turning its crypto trading scale into higher-margin services and deeper integration with traditional finance. This Bitcoin-backed mortgage launch is a live test of whether that idea extends into large, regulated markets like housing.
“Proprietary blockchain platforms and integrated payment solutions enable ecosystem lock-in and drive a shift toward higher-margin services and recurring revenue streams…

On the bullish side, this product speaks directly to Coinbase’s pitch as an access point for digital asset adoption and for more complex use cases than simple spot trading. By powering Better’s token-backed mortgages and tying in Coinbase One rebates, Coinbase is trying to turn wallet users into cross-product customers and broaden its revenue base beyond trading fees.
On the bearish side, critics’ concerns about complexity and cost highlight the diversification risk already flagged in the Narrative. If products like this stay niche, Coinbase carries additional compliance and technology overhead without clear scale benefits, while competitors such as Binance or Robinhood can keep pushing simpler, low-fee trading offerings.
The same Bitcoin-backed mortgage news can read as either proof of Coinbase Global’s broader ecosystem story or as added complexity on an already risky model, depending on which Narrative you find more convincing. The Foxhole
Nvidia’s (NVDA) record profit had a US$7.8 billion catch. That chunk came from betting on its own customers, not from selling its chips.
The circularity worth examining is not the mark-to-market line. A large and growing share of Nvidia’s revenue comes from companies funded by venture capital, and Nvidia participates in some of those rounds. That is the loop. The paper gains are just an accounting reflection of it, so focusing on them means arguing about the mirror rather than the room.
Hyperscalers grew 13% sequentially, the other AI segment grew 25% and 138% year on year. The faster half is the funded half. AI venture funding was over 400 billion in the first half with about 70% spent on compute. That is an interesting composition shift like I mentioned yesterday.
