Bitcoin fell sharply in the early trade on September 14, with prices hovering just above $76,452 but quickly recovered some of those losses to trade at $77,462 (12:09 IST), up 0.26 percent over the past 24 hours, though representing a 2.79 percent increase over the week amid hotter US inflation data and rising Middle East tensions.
Rising crude prices also pressured broader risk assets. Attention now shifts to the Fed’s September rate decision next week.
According to Riya Sehgal, Research Analyst at Delta Exchange, Bitcoin is attempting to stabilise after defending the $76,000 region, with the latest rebound pushing the price back toward $77,800.
She estimates that the recovery is constructive, but $78,000 remains the immediate test; a sustained move above this level would bring $78,800–$79,000 back into focus, while failure to hold the $77,300–$77,500 area could expose the recent lows again.
“With the FOMC meeting approaching and oil prices and Treasury yields remaining important macro variables, we expect headline sensitivity and volatility to remain elevated. For now, the move looks more like a relief recovery from support than confirmation of a broader bullish breakout,” Sehgal said.
Meanwhile, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted a net $3.34 billion between August 19 and September 4. The strongest session came on September 3 with an inflow of $730.8 million. Institutional demand weakened during the final 4 US sessions before September 14. The ETFs recorded combined outflows of $462.7 million between September 8 and September 11. September 10 accounted for $282.7 million of that total.
Here’s how major cryptocurrencies moved over the past 24 hours.
Key factors investors should watch
According to Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus, the immediate test for cryptos now comes from monetary policy when the US Federal Reserve meets on September 15 and 16.
“Interest-rate markets assign an 86 percent probability to a 25-basis-point increase. US 10-year Treasury yields have already climbed to approximately 4.97 percent. A yield near 5 percent raises the return available from dollar-denominated debt. It also makes non-yielding assets such as Bitcoin less attractive at the margin,” Subburaj said.
Oil has added another complication. Brent crude rose 2.6 percent to $107.36 a barrel on September 14 after gaining almost 9 percent during the previous week. Oil remaining above $100 would increase the risk that inflation stays elevated and monetary conditions remain tight.
Subburaj suggests, “A close above $86,000 would signal that the market has absorbed its largest remaining supply cluster. A sustained break below $71,000 would instead reopen the path towards the $62,000-$65,000 accumulation zone. With a potential 25-basis-point Fed rate hike due on September 16, aggressive leverage is a poor trade-off. Investors can use the $76,600 and $71,000 levels to judge risk.”
